Christian Lacroix Apartement-le-Marais

This article is a little old, but to have a glimpse into Haute couturier Christian Lacroix's 2,150-square-foot apartment in the Marais district of Paris is a find! It's gorgeous in it's authentic Parisan state of French doors opening onto pretty balconies. Check out photos of la maison here.

Ink Calendar

"Ink Calendar" make use the timed pace of the ink spreading on the paper to indicate time.

The ink is absorbed slowly, and the numbers in the calendar are "printed" daily. One a day, they are filled with ink until the end of the month. A calendar self-updated, which enhances the perception of time passing and not only signaling it.

The ink colors are based on a spectrum, which relate to a “color temperature scale”, each month having a color related to our perception of the whether on that month. The colors range from dark blue in December to, three shades of green in spring or oranges, red in the summer.

The scale for measuring the “color temperature” that I have used is a standard called ‘D65’ and corresponds roughly to a midday sun in Western / Northern Europe.

The "Ink Calendar" was developed for “Gradual “, an exhibition featuring works, which were evolving during the exhibition time at the London Design Festival 2007.

Where can I get the dress that's on the label you ask? Why, that's a "Lookie Lookie, Here Comes Cookie!" 1950's Satin Halter Swing Dress in Victoria Red and you can only get it at Baby Girl Boutique who also carries the Jonesie Cake Line!

Now go get your shop on!

This made me smile...

I know it's not an original idea, but it's still a lot of fun to watch.

Tourquise is the New Black

I plan on doing my bedroom in that pretty teal
that was so popular for cars in the 50's

Been a While...

French fashion hairstylist Olivier Chomienne

Yes, it's been some time since my last post here. I started a new day job which has really kept me on my feet...wowsie wow! I go in, get a cup of coffee and next thing I know I look down and it's 7 pm! I also just moved and am finally feeling a bit settled. Everything is unpacked, but it's a 1700 square foot loft and there is no storage or lighting! So it's dark and everything is on the lfoor right now. It is fun though because I can paint and decorate how I would like. AND! I have a special space just for Jonesie Cake! Pix of the redecorating coming soon!

Inspiration for the loft...

The Move

I moved from the beach Sunday, into an art loft at the brewery - downtown Los Angeles. So much to do! I have a business trip to Vancouver Wed-Fri...so the fun has to wait until this weekend.

I look forward to the design and decorating I can do with this HUGE space. (That is a 48" flat screen tv to give you scale...sorry about quality of photo - was taken with iphone because I have no idea where my camera is right now)
