Denise Grünstein

I was pretty sure there was no one who loved flowers as much as myself until I saw

Denise Grünstein's Photography

I have a new couture collection i am working on that is very grand and all very much one of a kind. I have been playing with many materials I never thought of before and I cannot wait to post the new designs. Just a little more time...Grünstein inspires me. Her photos are like old paintings. I LOVE it!

Project Runway

My guilty pleasure is Project Runway.
I just love this show!

My favorite designer this season is Kenley!

Added October 3rd...What a bitch this girl has turned out to be! I understand that Reality Shows can paint a picture and skew things, but she cannot hide from her words and attitude. She is such a poor sport standing on the runway and making fun of everyone else. It's too bad because I think she has real talent, but she is so full of herself and so nasty...I take back that she is my favorite now.

If you would like to see more of her clothing line...
here is
her website

and her myspace.

Cro Customs

My good friend Caleb Owens has started
a blog for his bike shop
Cro Customs.

Cro Customs Blog

Caleb is another "artist friend" of mine
making way towards doing what he loves.

I love the quote on his website...
"Does Over Time make up for Time Lost?"

I say...Nope.

Go out and turn your love into what you do everyday!
Make something with your hands!

Buy Handmade!

Buying Handmade makes for better gift-giving.
The giver of a handmade gift has avoided the parking lots and long lines of the big chain stores in favor of something more meaningful. If the giver has purchased the gift, s/he feels the satisfaction of supporting an artist or crafter directly. The recipient of the handmade gift receives something that is one-of-a-kind, and made with care and attention that can
be seen and touched. It is the result of skill and craftsmanship that is absent in the world of large-scale manufacturing.

Buying handmade is better for people.

The ascendancy of chain store culture and global manufacturing has left us dressing, furnishing, and decorating alike. We are encouraged to be consumers, not producers, of our own culture. Our ties to the local and human sources of our goods have been lost. Buying handmade helps us reconnect.

Buying handmade is better for the environment.

The accumulating environmental effects of mass production are a major cause of global warming and the poisoning of our air, water and soil. Every item you make or purchase from a small-scale independent artist or crafter strikes a small blow to the forces of mass production.

Bon Bon Bar

More hand-made stuff! Only this time it's chocolate. I love food and this has got to be the best stuff I have ever had in my life! There is a little gourmet shop around the corner from my work and everyone in the office was talking about this lady demo-ing her goodies.

I walked over and met Nina.
She makes all of her goodies from scratch and packages them herself!
You MUST try the Scotch Candy Bar and The Passion Fruit Marshmellows!

I LOVE her story. She has a similar approach to life as myself. Do what makes you happy! Daytime jobs AND Nighttime projects? Oh Yes, Nina! I know ALL about that!

I myself - started out pre-law in college, then went to art school, then became and animator, now I design hair clips, animate and paint - all at the same time. Serial Entrepreneurs will rule the world! Nina also has a blog she started ( just like my painting blog!) where she shares her experiences while she learns.

And JONESIE CAKE will be there too, with clips at a discounted price from the online pricing!

I hope you can stop by, say 'hello' and buy the women in your life - or yourself - a beautiful clip!

There is a DJ playing all day, Ample Parking, and plenty of fun for all.

Hope to see you there!

The Abbot Kinney Festival PIX!

My first time selling the clips at a festival. It was a HUGE SUCCESS! You never know if your customer will be at these things and I can tell you - mine was there! The booth swarmed with women (and a few men) all day long!

I know this pic is totally goofy, but it was taken at the end of the day and I had sold over 100 clips. I wish I had been smart enough to grab my camera at some of the busiest times, but I was occupied talking to the ladies as they came through.
So, enjoy the few snaps I did take!

The morning started with the little girls. Wowsie Wow, these little girls knew what they liked and let their mother's know it! I sold all of my daisies, cosmos and cherry blossoms within the first 3 hours. If anyone has a store that specializes in things for little girls, email me! We need to talk.

This little girl loved the Purple Cosmos
and she was so adorable!

Mom worked hard to find any small clips leftover after the morning ambush for this little one.

The Deep Blue Daisies brought out the blue in this little girls eyes. Too bad she really wanted those shoes off!

My neighbor Jen came by and bought the double white rose. She already has like 5 of my clips, but insisted one more was needed.

Our friend James tried to hold up the tent towards the end of the day. I borrowed an EZ up and either we did not put it up correctly, or it was broken. Either way I am investing in a brand new tent next time.
Thanks, James

This woman must have tried all 200 clips on her hat before she chose Orchid Cyd. I named it after the famous dancer Cyd Charisse.

I have never seen such intent on picking exactly the right flower.

My best friend, Lisa, came by to support sporting her yellow Lily.
Doesn't she look amazing?

These two were so funny.
I also think they must have tried on close to all of the clips.
I plan on having more accessible mirrors next time.

This is Diane.
She found me on facebook.
What a doll.
She and her Mom chose 2 different clips for her and she came back for another! Here is she is pictured with Kate's Orchid.
This clip can dress up or go with jeans.

Chewy.
Look at the face!
Chewy, short for Chewbacca was our friend
Julie's dog and really needed a clip.

This girl was so cute and loved my new cherry clips.

Christine was equally enthusiastic about the
Lavendar Siren Rose.

I cannot seem to find this flower anywhere anymore.
It might be discontinued.
So, she nabbed a rare one!
